Addie Mae Walker Stevenson was born the oldest of two girls, to the parents of Jim and Isabell Walker, June 8, 1917 in Ellis County, Waxahachie, Texas.

She was brought up under Christian influences. Having been enrolled in Sunday School while so young that she was a member of the Cradle Roll. At an early age, the age of eleven, she confessed a hope in Christ and was united and baptized by the late Rev. Johnny H. Washington, Pastor of New Mount Zion Baptist Church, and served there in the Star Light Band, Y.W.A., Girls Junior Mission, the Choir, Sunday School Teacher and B.Y.P.U. until she moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1941 and united with the Zion Hill Baptist Church.

To all of her friends and relatives she was known as "Boots." She attended and graduated from the Old Oak Lawn High School with honors (Valeditorian.) After moving to Los Angeles, her quest for knowledge and understanding continue. She studied Business at The Metropolitan School of Business. Boots majored in Sociology at Los Angeles City College.

She taught five continuous years in Sunday School at Zion Hill Baptist Church. She often said this was the greatest and most inspiring part of her life.

Boots was married to Mr. Elbert Stevenson, childhood sweetheart and classmate. No children were born to this union. For more than 27 years she was employed by The North American Rockwell Aviation, Inc.

She went home to eternal rest on Monday, January 19, 1999. She leaves to mourn her passing, an only sister Jimmie "Toots" L. DeBase; nephews Norman DeBase, Sr., Micheal DeBase; nieces Peggy Autry and Joan DeBase and a host of great and great,great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
