Mrs. Hunter was a daughter of Christian Rowland and was born on the farm adjoining that of her husband and on which she resided since her marriage. She was a member of one of the oldest and best known families of that neighborhood and her death will severe many ties.
She had been unwell for several months past but became only seriously ill within the last few days. Her death was the first one that has taken place in the family for forty years, she being survived by her husband, who has reached the age of 82 years and by most of her brothers and sisters.
The funeral will take place on Tuesday at the house. Interment will be made in the family graveyard on the farm of Mr. Elias Rowland adjoining. (??) The pallbearers will be Messrs. John, William, Raney, Amos and Joseph Adams, nephews of the deceased, and Mr. John Stigers, Hancock.
Mrs. Hunter is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Christley and Elias Rowland, Washington County; Levi Rowland, Iowa; Andrew Rowland, Illinois; Mrs. George Adams, Washington County; and Mrs. Susan Funk, Illinois. The following sons and daughters survive her: George, at home; and John, in Chicago; Misses Lucy, Jane, Alice, Sarah, Olive and Molly, at home; Miss Barbara, Hancock; and Mrs. Susie Williams, NY. All the children are unmarried except Mrs. Williams.
