Mr. Wheeler was born April 22, 1947, in Stillwater, Okla., to Thomas J. Wheeler and Charlotte Nelson, who live in Colorado Springs.
He is survived by a son, Rick, and a daughter, Susanna, both of California; and two brothers, Patrick of Denver and Robert of Colorado Springs.
Mr. Wheeler had lived in the area since 1970.
