UEHLING - Charles R. Erickson, 88, of rural Uehling died Sunday,
Dec. 1, 2002, at Logan Valley Manor in Lyons.
He was born April 25, 1914, in rural Uehling. He attended District
84 School in rural Dodge County and graduated from Uehling High
School in 1934. He married Eunice Wiechman on Sept. 25, 1938, in
rural Hooper. He was a farmer in rural Uehling and did custom hay
baling for many years in the area.
He was a member of First Congregational Church, United Church of
Christ, in Uehling. He served on the Logan Township Board for 26
years. He was active in the men's group at church and was a past
member of many square dance clubs from 1952 until recently. He built
all of the buildings on his farm with the exception of the barn,
with the assistance of his wife. He and his wife also cared for her
mother in their home for seven years before her death.
Survivors include: his wife; a daughter, Rebecca Clausen of Sparta,
Mo.; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a stepgreat-
granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Congregational Church,
UCC, in Uehling with the Revs. Linda Newman and Mark Eldal
officiating. Visitation will be 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at Warne-Johnson
Funeral Home in Uehling and will continue 12:30 to service time
Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Baptist Cemetery in rural
Hooper.
