Joe Nell Adcock McMurtry Horton, age 86 years, passed away at Christian Care Cheatham County, in Ashland City, TN . She was born in Scottsville, KY to Wesley Burnie Adock and Lula Jane Maynard Adcock on February 10, 1926. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Harold McMurtry, Sr. and William Horton; sons, James Harold McMurtry, Jr., Charles Wayne McMurtry, & Richard Lee McMurtry; grandson, A. J. McMurtry. A Celebration of her life will be held Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel with Bro. Charles Worrell officiating. She was a nurse technician for over 32 years. She loved her Chihuahua “Meanness”, going shopping, listening to gospel TV and gospel Music. She loved people, loved to laugh, and loved making friends wherever she went. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald E. McMurtry, Nashville, TN, John L. & Kim McMurtry, Kingston, Springs, TN; daughters, Teresa M. Phillips, Hartford, TN & Belinda R. Horton, Clarksville, TN; daughter-in-law, Loretta McMurtry, Pegram, TN; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 from 3-5pm and on Monday, 10-11am the hour of the service. Family will serve as pallbearers. Final resting place will be at Mayes Cemetery on Bethel Road.
