SAVANNAH

James 'Clem' Clement, 67, farmer, died Monday at Hardin County General Hospital after a heart attack. Son of the late Jessie and Lovie Morton Clement of Hardin County, TN.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Home in Savannah with burial in Mount Hermon Cemetery.

He was an Army veteran. Mr. Clement, the widower of Annie Carolyn Horton Clement leaves a daughter, Shelley Murphy; a son, Mike Clement, and five sisters, Naomi Whitten,Velma Barlow, Inez McCasland, Louellen Rainey and Joyce Davis, all of Savannah, five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
James "Clem" Clement was a talented musician who made numerous
contributions to the Hardin County, TN, community by doing benefits
for individuals and worthy causes that both entertained and benefitted his fellow man. His Blugrass musical group fit right in to the numerous bluegrass bands in Hardin County. i.e. One of the top bands was Wayne Jerrolds a nationally known, Champion Fiddle Player, who has his own band and also was a former band member of the late, great Bill Monroe of Grand Ole Opry fame! Clem's musical group was known as the "Scrap Iron Band."
