Saidee (Sadie) Polk (Fall) Gardner Grant was the g grand niece of 11th Pres. James K. and Sarah (Childress) Polk. Her mother, Sarah Polk (Jetton) Fall, was "adopted" by Sarah (Childress) Polk a few years after her husband, Pres. James K. Polk, died on 15 June 1849, three months after his presidency ended. Saidee first married (12 May 1891) Matthew McClung Gardner (29 April 1852 - 1905) and they had three children; Robert Henry Gardner, George William Fall Gardner and Matthew McClung Gardner. Her second marriage (9 June 1917) was to Rollin Pierson Grant (6 Jan 1870 - 17 Jan 1936).
