Theresa L. Strausbaugh Orner, age 61 of Belmont Road, Gettysburg died March 8, 2001, at home, after an extended illness (colon cancer). She was born September 7, 1939 on Church Street in McSherrystown. Theresa was the daughter of the late Joseph D. and Emma F. (Rinker) Strausbaugh.
She was a registered nurse, working at the South Mountain Restoration center until her retirement. She was diagnosed with colon cancer about one year ago. She is survived by her husband, retired deputy Sherriff William Orner and two sons; Todd Orner, his wife Michelle and grandson Benjamin Orner. A second son, Mark Orner at home; two brothers, William J. Strausbaugh of Gettysburg and Steven A. Strausbaugh of Dover; four sisters, Wilma D. Steinour and Nancy C. McManus of Hanover, Lorraine A. Kuhn of Spring Grove and Alice E. Wright of Brodbecks. She was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel F. Strausbaugh.
A memorial Mass was held at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Gettysburg on March 12, 2002 with Father Joseph Hilbert presiding. Her body was cremated and buried after a grave side service in the Greenmouht Cemetery in Arendsville. The Monahan funeral Home Gettysburg handled arrangements.
