Ruth E. VanTol, age 96 years, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region. She was born June 11, 1918 to the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Dean) Beeckman in Bay City where she resided all of her life. Ruth was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Parish – St. John Church, its Altar Society, and the League of Catholic Women and Men. She was a devout Catholic who cherished spending time with her family and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. In 1939 Ruth married Norbert A. VanTol in St. Norbert Church and predeceased her on October 6, 1996.

Surviving are her four children: Norberta Frank, Jane (Dennis) Badour, Allan (Peg) VanTol, Mary (Dennis) Schnettler; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her grandson, Pat Frank; four brothers: Arthur, Neil, Norbert, and Virgil Beeckman; and four sisters: Evelyn Morgan, Erma Sharrland, Edna Walraven, and Dorothy Bates.

The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Friday, September 5, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Jude Thaddeus Parish – St. John Church (614 Pine St., Essexville). Rev. Dale A. Orlik will preside with interment following in St. Patrick Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday at the church only from 9:00 am until time of the Liturgy. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the W. A. Trahan Funeral Chapel.
