Orval Britton Mr. Vernon
Orval W. Britton, 1127 Maple died at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital at the age of 69 years, nine months and eight days. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Myers Chapel, with the Rev. Bryan Beaty officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. The body will lie in state at Myers Chapel, where firends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Britton was born in Mt. Vernon on Sept. 1, 1900, the son of Perry C. and Lillie G. (Maynor) Britton. He married Leona E. Hamlin on Sept. 3, 1921. She survives. He was head of Teamsters Local 931 for 17 years. Besides his wife, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Dorma Davis and Mrs. Joyce Hampsey of Woodriver; three brothers, Victor Britton of Woodlawn, Roy Britton of Mt. Vernon and Orland Britton of Calumet City; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Duncan of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Ruth Brawner of Kirkville, Mo.; seven grandchildren, including Marilyn J. Baron of Mt. Vernon who was reared in his home; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, his parents and two brothers.
