Hastings resident, Joy L. Wolfe, 77, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.
Memorial Services will be Friday, August 1, 2014; 11:00 A.M. at Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene, Hastings, with Pastor John Whitsett officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings. Visitation will be Thursday, July 31, 2014; 2:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. with family present 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Morrison Cancer Center, 815 North Kansas Avenue, Hastings, Nebraska 68901.
Joy was born March 29, 1937, in Kirwin, Kansas, to George & Faye (Gaines) Stroup. She graduated from Kirwin High School, in Kirwin, Kansas, and attended Fort Hays College. She married William E. Givens, and they were blessed with 3 children. She later moved to Holdrege, Nebraska, to continue her career with KN Energy. Joy married Marland “Lefty” Wolfe on May 31, 2003, in Branson, Missouri. She worked for KN Energy for 18 years as an accountant/office manager and retired from the Adams County Register of Deeds Office. Joy was a member of Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene, Hastings College Crimson Connection, and Red Hats. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, listening to country music, reading, cheering for Kansas State University, and keeping in touch with family and friends on Facebook.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kerby Givens; three sisters, Nellie Campbell, Beulah Jones, and Judy Yarger; and brother, Donald Stroup.
