Donald Jack Watson, 82 of North Fort Myers, FL passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014. He was born on March 20, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan to William and Charlotte Rittner Watson. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army. Don retired in 1981 as a Detective Sergeant, Homicide Division, after 26 years with the Detroit Police Department. He was also active in the "God Squad" while working at the police department. After moving to Florida he was instrumental in establishing the "Loss Prevention" department with J Byron's Department store at Edison Mall. Don enjoyed gardening, walking, bike riding, collecting various items, and was proud of his cast iron police car collection.
Don is survived by his loving family including; his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Jean (nee: Berkey) Watson; three children, Mark Alan Watson of Punta Gorda, Kimberly Kosinski of Livonia, MI, Todd Michael Watson of Orlando; four grandchildren; his aunt Alice Kruger of Croswell, MI.
Services will be at 2:00pm on Wednesday, April 9th at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, 1630 Pine Island Road, Cape Coral
