Charles Eugene Black, age 81, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at his home in Cunningham.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the chapel of McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Koontz officiating. Burial will follow in the Black Cemetery.
The Black family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Eugene entered this life on May 25, 1933 in Montgomery County to the late Charlie and Maggie Britt Black. He was retired from Acme Boot Company. Mr. Black was also a farmer and a member of the church family at Gum Springs Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving family which includes his wife of 58 years, Earline Lyle Black of Cunningham; children Wayne Black (Judy) of Clarksville, Connie Black of Cunningham, and Elaine Bearden (Donald) of Cumberland Furnace; grandchildren Chase Bearden (Amanda), Scott Bearden (Kalynn), Trey Bearden, Angie Henley, and Brandy Rapp; and six great grandchildren.
Along with his parents Eugene was preceded in death by his siblings, Jake Black, Mildred Akins, Edna Earl Black, and Odell Rye.
Pallbearers will be Chase Bearden, Scott Bearden, Trey Bearden, Dillon Baggett, Chance Hodges, Bobby Akins, and Fulton Rye. Honorary pallbearers will be Bud Wells and other members of the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class at Gum Springs Baptist Church.
