OBITUARY Iron River Reporter January 19 1967 "A. Steinke Dies At 83, Ill Briefly"
Adolph C. Steinke, 83, of Baumgartner district, Iron River, passed away Monday [Jan 16] evening at the Stambaugh General Hospital, following a 2 ½ week illness. He was hospitalized for 17 days.
Mr. Steinke was born in Germany on October 22, 1883 and came to this country as a child with his parents, first settling in Milwaukee and later moving to the Baumgartner district in 1890. He attended the Stambaugh school system and worked for the local mining industry as a blacksmith. He made his home with his sister, Mrs. Edward Franke, in the Baumgartner district.
Mr. Steinke is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Franke, Iron River; Mrs. Alexander (Julia) Kosloske, Iron Mountain; Mrs. A.H. Proksch (Marie), Iron River and Mrs. Clara Thalheimer, Los Angeles, Calif. He also leaves four nieces.
Funeral services are set for today at 8 p.m. at the LaFave Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl H. Berndtson, pastor of the First Lutheran church, officiating. Burial will be held in the Stambaugh cemetery.
The deceased was a life member of the Masonic Lodge F. & A.M. 457, Iron River.
The LaFave Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services were held Thursday [Jan 19] afternoon for Adolph C. Steinke, 83, who passed away last Monday [Jan 16].
The 2 p.m. rites were conducted at the LaFave Funeral Home and officiated by Rev. Earl H. Berndtson, pastor of the First Lutheran Church.
Burial followed in the Stambaugh Cemetery.
Organist for the services was Mrs. Merlin Bauman, who accompanied Mrs. Morris Holm, singing "Lead Kindly Light" and "Abide With Me".
Pallbearers were: Arthur Pavlish, Joseph Wurzer, Gus Groth, Richard Rachey, Earl Frechette and Charles Proksch, jr.
The LaFave Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
