Joyce Ann Allen, age 69, of Joplin, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, of a sudden illness.

Joyce was born on Feb. 25, 1945, in Miami, Okla., the daughter of the late Eugene and Virginia (Gibson) Hirshey.

She married Marlin Allen on June 3, 1970, in Miami, Okla. Together they raised three children.

Joyce worked many years as a beautician while in Kansas City, and later at Newman's Department Store, in Joplin. She also was a hostess for Bob Evan's. She attended Northview Assembly of God Church. She was a strong beautiful lady, full of love and life.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Marlin Allen, Joplin; one son, Kerry Allen, Joplin; two daughters, Angela Robin Atkinson and Mandy Jo Allen, both of Joplin; two brothers, Bill Hirshey and Charles Dean Hirshey, both of Joplin; a sister-in-law, Annette Hirshey, Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and four grandchildren, Kayla Spencer, Kloie Simmonds, Jaxxyn Brody, Emery Allen and Dakotah Allen. She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Hirshey.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Rev. Daryl Long will officiate. Burial will be in Carterville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
