Anthony F. Souza, husband of Patricia A. (Smith) Souza, died in the Dighton Nursing Center on Monday evening, September 2, 2013.
A resident of Berkley for the past seven years, he and his family formerly resided in Taunton. He was the son of the late Maximiano and Augusta (Barradas) Souza. He was a graduate of the former Walker School and was a long time communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church. He was retired from Taunton Stove where he worked for 10 years and from the former Paragon Gear where he worked for 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, animals and the outdoors. While living in Taunton, he was a Constable for many years. He was well known for his daily assistance with the newspapers at the Common Crossings Store in Berkley.
He and his wife Patricia have been married 50 years. Tony is the father of Kathleen Shimkus of Berkley and Anthony Souza, Jr of Georgia. He is the grandfather of Alan Souza, Heather Souza and Michael Hollingsworth. Tony is the brother of James Souza of East Taunton and he was the brother of the late Jesse, Martin, Joseph, and Louis Souza, Olinda Andre, and Augusta Arruda. He was also the uncle of several.
