Maurice Couve de Murville was a French politician. After initially serving under Pétain during the Vichy government, he moved to Algeria and joined the French Resistance under Charles de Gaulle. At war's end, he took a key role for France in the settlement negotiations. He later served as the French ambassador to Egypt (1950-54), NATO (1954), the United States (1955), and West Germany (1956-58). Under President de Gaulle, he served as Foreign Minister (1958-1968), Finance Minister (1968), and Prime Minister (1968-1969).

On the current map of the cemetery, Couve de Murville is incorrectly listed as being in Division 18, marker #6. He is in Division 18, but he is marked with the number 3 on the map. (Number 6 is Sabine Zlatin.) See the photo of the map - there is a ball-point pen pointing at his spot on the map.
