William C. Bard, SR., 73 of 499 Buchanan Valley Road, Orrtanna, died at 2:29 am. Monday, May 4, 1998 in the emergency room of Chambersburg Hospital.

Born May 5, 1924, in Scotland, he was the son of the late Walter C. and Helen (Perry) Bard.

Mr. Bard and his wife, Hattie J. (Atnip) Bard, were married March 18, 1946.

Mr. Bard was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, before retiring in 1972.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW2, having served with the 17th Airborne Division in the European Theater of Operations.

Mr. Bard was a Protestant.

He served for several years in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the VFW of the United States, Kansas City, MO.

He enjoyed collecting antiques and hunting.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William C. Bard Jr. of Chambersburg and Timothy A. Bard of Orrtanna; two sisters, Betty Perry of Goosecreek, S.C. and Barbara Ann Bard of South Carolina; and seven grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter and four brothers.

Services and burial will be private and officiated by the Rev. George S. Mouer Sr.

There will be no viewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayetteville Church of God, 5276 Treher Road, Fayetteville, Pa. 17222.
