Rudolph Inman Abild, beloved husband of Lil (nee Vernon) passed away peacefully at Emerald Groves Assisted Living on March 7th, 2010 at the age of 77 of a brain tumor. Born July 26, 1932 on the Hans Abild homestead farm in Clay County, SD to the late Inman and Ida Abild, Rudy attended elementary school at Rural-Pleasant Dell, graduated from Wakonda High School in 1950, and attended the University of South Dakota. He married Donna Hanisch of Humboldt, SD on February 23, 1957. Donna preceded him in death on February 22, 1993. On January 4, 1997 he married Lil Vernon and moved to Sun Lakes, AZ, a community they dearly loved, traveling and cruising with their many friends. Rudy worked for International Harvester Corporation for 37 years, remaining close friends with his co-workers at IHC. Rudy lived life to the fullest, a life-long member of the Elks, an avid tennis and bridge player. He was a member of St. Steven's Catholic Church in Sun Lakes, where served as a Eucharistic Minister. Rudy is survived by his wife Lil, daughters Debra (Ed) Schauberger, Kathleen (David) Winter, Lisa (Garth) Carter, sons Brian (Patricia) Abild, and Mark (Catherine) Abild, and brother Richard (Sally) Abild. He is also survived by Lil's children, Deborah Vernon, Bill (Brenda) Vernon, Mark (Karee) Vernon, and Linda Vernon, 18 grandchildren, and a host of beloved sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed. Mass of Christian Service will be held at St. Stevens Catholic Church, March 11th. Burial and a memorial will follow at a later date in Naperville, IL.
