A memorial service for Leslie I. "Les" Beer is scheduled at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home. Elks Lodge No. 1551 will officiate. Final resting place will be at Northern Lights Memorial Park.
Mr. Beer died March 14, 1994, at his home in Fairbanks. He was 77.
Born Sept. 19, 1916, in Iowa, Mr. Beer came to Alaska in 1953 where he worked at Ladd Field and later as a water plant treatment operator at Fort Wainwright. After retiring in September 1976, he opened a clock shop at his home.
Mr. Beer was a member of the Elks and Moose lodges.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Beer of Fairbanks, son Gene Beer of Rockford, Ill.; sister Lucille Craver of Exline, Iowa, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and an extended Alaska family of friends who loved him dearly.
