Wendyl was born on June 20, 1941, in Ardmore, Okla., to Ulice Ray Knight and Mary (Vaughn) Knight. He attended Ardmore Schools and served his country in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge, he began working as a truck driver and had several different jobs in the local oil fields. The majority of his truck driving years were spent with Jett Services, Vacco/Kleen Oilfield Services, and the Marietta Cookie Factory/Keebler.
He married Rose Trovato on February 8, 1982, in Ardmore, Okla. Exactly one year later, he received his first anniversary present, the birth of his daughter JoRaye. He liked mowing the lawn on his riding mower and always enjoyed having a cold beer with friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Wendyl is survived by his wife, Rose of the home; daughter. JoRaye (Knight) Lytle and husband, Todd, of Oklahoma City; stepson, Herb Ofseur, of Las Vegas; sister, Kay Byers and husband, Denny, of Ardmore; nephews. Denny Ray Byers, Jeb Byers, and Mickey Byers, of Ardmore; aunt, Billie Childers, of Del City, Okla.; and numerous cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday evening, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Griffin-Hillcrest, Ardmore.
