Henry Eckler was born to Hendrick and Margaret at the Mohawk River on Aug 11,1739 and died 3 Mar. 1820. He married Christina on Nov. 27, 1764. She was born in Oct. 1746 and died 21 Jan. 1841. He was a capt. of the militia during the Revolution. He enlisted in Capt. Yates militia company
at 20 years of age. By Mar. 1779 Henry was the Capt. of the 7th Co. in Col. Peter Bellinger's 4th Reg. of Tyron Co. militia. He was well acquainted with the famous Indian Joseph Brant. The family had many very sad experiences with the Indiana. He became a farmer in Montgomery Co. NY and held office and taught school. in 1790 census the family was in Canajoharie.
