Singer, songwriter. A North Texas based country music performer who had been in the music industry for over 50 years. He was one of the primary owners of Billy Bob’s Texas, the world-famous honky-tonk known to be the largest in the world which is located in the Historic Stockyards. He headlined the “house” band at Billy Bob’s where he shared the stage with some of the greatest names in country music such as George Strait, Hank Williams Jr., Willie Nelson, and George Jones and that is naming just a few. The list could go on. At one point he was general manager and booking agent for Billy Bob's. He worked the clubs and concerts for many years and he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and fans from all over the world. He recorded on several record labels including ABC Records and Chart Records. He enjoyed top 10 hits such as 'This Ain't No Beer Joint(Tear Joint)' and 'Right out of This World'. His song 'Gone as a Girl Can Get'(1992) was a top 10 hit for George Strait. Lynn Anderson, Charley Pride, Red Steagall, Webb Pierce, George Morgan, Jack Green, and Johnny Duncan are just a few country music performers that recorded songs written by Jerry Max.
