WILLIAM J. SEIFERT

March 15, 1923 - June 21, 2008

William J. Seifert of Vancouver, WA, passed away on June 21, 2008 at the age of 85. He was born in Vancouver on March 15, 1923 to John and Ora Seifert.

William fought in the Pacific at Okinawa, Japan in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged as First Sergeant in 1945.

He graduated from photography school in 1949 and owned his own studio, Seifert Studio, from 1950-1975.

William was involved in many organizations; he was President of the Oregon Professional Photographer Association 1969-1970, he was a member of the Mt. Hood Scottish Rights Mason-32 Degrees, he was a member of the Afifi Temple of the Holy Order of the Shriners 1968-present, he was a locomotive engineer for the SP&S and then Burlington Northern Railroad until retirement in 1983, after retirement he served as local chairman of the BLE Union, he was a volunteer fireman and then Chief of Skamania Fire District 6 Northwoods and Skamania County Fire Commissioner, an honorary life membership as Fire Commissioner of Skamania County and a member of the Elks BPOE Lodge number 838.

Williams last days where under the care of Home Well Senior Care and the family wishes to thank everyone involved.

William is survived by his daughters, Cheryl (Jim) Standiford and Susan (Mike) Angove; and step-son, Gene Archer; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Joann Seifert; parents; two brothers, Harold and Orville T. Seifert; and three sisters, Edith Davis, Lurline Hodgins and Irene Edwards.

A Masonic memorial service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in the chapel.
