R B McINTIRE DEAD

End Came Before Noon Today To One
of Lawrence's Oldest Citizens.

The end came shortly before noon to day to one of the oldest and most respected citizen of Lawrence, when death claimed Mr R B McIntire.
Mr McIntire died from complications of peritonitis and inflammatory cumation and has been seriously ill for the past four weeks. His sons, L O McIntire and H R McIntire, and his wife were with him when he died. The funeral will be held from the home at four o'clock tomorrow afternoon and will be private as Mr McIntire's last request was that the funeral be private.
R B McIntire was born in Wooster, Ohio, September 4, 1833. He was married to Miss Margaret Culbertson. In 1875 he came west to Kansas where he settled in business, coming to Lawrence in 1883, since that time he has been here all the time being in business a portion of the time in the grocery business and later in the dry goods business with his son at 919 Massachusetts street.
There are few men in Lawrence who held so high a position in the esteem of their friends as Mr R B McIntire and the family is one which is liked among the foremost in Lawrence. Mr McIntire was a man who was liked by everyone and loved by those who knew him well. He was a friendly man with a cheery word for every one, one of those men, like there are not many in the world, who knew how to make everyone feel happy.
The McIntire family life has all was been a happy one, as the father and mother had been married for fifty-five years, which is a record that few people make. The sympathy and condolence of all Lawrence people is certainly extended to the family in the death of so fine a gentleman.
