The Courier. Waterloo, Iowa. 28 Nov. 1933, Tue.
Radcliffe, Ia. Funeral services were held Monday for Merle Larson, 22, who died at Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls Friday from burns received a month ago.
Larson had drained the alcohol from the radiator of his car and put the fluid in a glass bottle. The bottle was broken and the contents splashed on his clothing. When he went into the house and stood near a stove, the heat ignited his clothing. After treatment at the hospital it was believed he would recover, but he suffered a relapse.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Larson of Radcliffe. Besides his parents, there survive four brothers and four sisters.
Burial was in the Radcliffe cemetery.
