Was married to Hazel (nee, Crouse) Nolan.
Had three children: a son, Joseph Robert Nolan, Jr and two daughters, Anna Marie Nolan(Jeffers-Divorced) and Margaret Theresa (nee, Nolan/Williams-Divorced) Rios.
He worked as a truck mechanic, sheet metal worker,welder at Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and at DuPont company worked for a electrical manufacturer,maintenance worker. Einstein Hospital (Daroff Division,South Phila.Pa. Formerly Mt.Sinai Hospital) as night shift maintenance worker. He retired after 20 years at Einstein Hospital.
Joseph Robert Nolan, Sr was diagnosed with lung cancer attributed for working with asbestos. Passed away at Temple University Hospital,(Philadelphia,Pa.) March 31,1988.Cause of death: Pneumonia.Funeral held at "Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church & Shea's Funeral Home,29,Th.& Dickerson St. Phila.Pa."
He is survived by the aforementioned children and many grandchildren & Great grandchildren.
