Robert "Bob" Charles Larson, 85, passed away on July 29, 2009, at his home in Valley Center, CA. Born October 12, 1923, in Batavia, Illinois, Bob settled for most of his life in San Pedro, retiring to Valley Center in 1989. He was a member of the San Pedro High School Class of 1943 and was a proud WWII Army veteran, serving in the South Pacific. He married Marguerite in 1947 and together they raised their four children in San Pedro. He attended trade school, and in 1950, opened Larson's Body Shop in Wilmington, CA, retiring to Valley Center in 1989. In his youth, Bob was a champion gymnast, and as an adult, enjoyed bicycling, fishing, hunting, skiing and reading. He loved the ocean, spending his childhood at Cabrillo Beach and continuing to visit throughout his life. Mammoth Lakes was one of his favorite places and he never missed an opening day at Crowley Lake. Bob made nearly as many canine friends as human; his doggie treats and belly rubs will be greatly missed.
