Orville B. Candler, 83, of 125 Candler Drive, went on to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday.

Mr. Candler was born in Wilkes County, Georgia, and was the son of the late Walter and Mary Nancy Strother Candler. He served his country in the United States Air Force and worked for General Electric for 37 years, retiring as a process engineer. He was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as deacon.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Grady and the Rev. David Hayes officiating. Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Friday in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Candler is survived by his wife, Edna Hare Candler; two daughters, Christa Hayes and husband David of Goldsboro and Marcia Wheless and husband Terry of Durham; three sons, Bardo Candler and wife Phyllis of Goldsboro, Marco Candler and wife Laura of Fayetteville, and Angelo Candler and wife Sharon of Clayton; three brothers, W.L. Candler of Thomson, Ga., Albert Candler of Augusta, Ga., and Robert Candler of Rome, Ga.; and his grandchildren, Kresant Kelly, Shane Hayes, Tiffany Wheless-Baird, Stacy Candler, Wendy Candler, Amy Candler, Matthew Candler, Kayla Candler and Hannah Candler.

The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home following the service on Thursday, and other times at the residence.
