Oscar's family came from Hedmark, Norway. His father came to America in 1879. His mother and their sons Ole and Emil immigrated to the Deerfield WI area in 1885. In addition to Oscar, they had two daughters, Amanda and Nora (Brown) as well as twins Rudolph and Adolph. Adolph died at birth, and Rudolph disappeared around 1920. Upon the early death of their mother, the Peterson children had to grow up fast. Oscar moved to Milwaukee before 1910. His future wife Minnie was living in Sheboygan according to the 1910 census. Oscar and Minnie were married December 1910 in Milwaukee. Their first two two children were born there. They returned to Sheboygan by 1915. Oscar was quiet and sweet. Minnie was delightfully "feisty." Their marriage appeared to be a very happy one. One of their sons, Fredrick A., became a world-renowned mesoamerican archaeologist. He found several lost civilizations, authored or co-authored 6 books, one of which was a required text required for college courses, and was a professor for 40 years at WV Wesleyan. For a time, he worked for the Milwaukee Public Museum. Thanks to Nancy Merriman #47588197 for biographical info.
