OBITUARY

Anna Dickerdorf was born in 1807, and died in this place at the residence of her son, John Henry, February 25, 1896, aged 88 years. During her early life she moved to Ohio with her parents where she married John A. Faulk, August 12, 1824. This union was blessed with thirteen children, eight of whom are living to mourn the loss of "mother".
Mrs. Faulk confessed Christ when fourteen and came down to the time of her summons, a faithful church member and true lover of her Master.
She was, at her death, a member of the Christian church, and the funeral services were conducted by the pastor at the church, Wednesday afternoon. Faithful in attendance at every church service until her advanced age prevented. "Grandma" Faulk will be missed not only by her children but a large circle of friends and acquaintances.

"Light after darkness, gain after loss;
Strength after weakness, crown after cross;
Sweet after bitter, song after sigh;
Home after wandering, praise after cry.

"Sheaves after sowing, sun after rain,
Sight after mystery, peace after pain;
Joy after sorrow, calm after blast,
Rest after weariness, sweet Rest at last.

"Near after distant, gleam after gloom,
Love after loneliness, Life after tomb;
After long agony, rapture of bliss,
Right was the pathway leading to this." M.G.E. Bennett, Pastor
[as printed in The Valley Falls New Era, 29 Feb. 1896, page 1, col. 4 - typos from original article such as mis-spelling of Dickerhoof and incorrect birth year]Anna Faulk is listed in the Jefferson County Tombstone Inscription book but the place of burial is listed as unknown. She is most likely buried at Rose Hill near her children. No marker has been found.
