"Ramon Robles, husband, father, attorney and former judge of the Superior Court of Cochise County, died November 28, 2006 in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was 72. A lifelong resident of Douglas, Arizona, Ramon recently moved to the Phoenix area with his wife Alvina, ("Winnie") where their four children reside. Ramon graduated Douglas High School in 1951 and then moved to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona. He was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and an accomplished debate champion. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 1956. He then graduated summa cum laude from the University Of Arizona College Of Law and was admitted to the Arizona State Bar in 1958. He returned to Douglas and opened the Law Offices of Ramon R. Alvarez as a general practitioner. He served as both Douglas City Attorney and Deputy County Attorney for many years. In 1995 he was appointed to the Cochise County Superior Court as a judge in the juvenile court division. He later returned to private practice. He was an active member of the Douglas and International Lion's Club where he received the President's Award for outstanding service to the organization. He loved fishing in Mexico, was an avid photographer and a certified pilot. He loved gourmet food and wine and was an exceptional cook. Ramon is survived by his wife and their family: daughter Annette; son, Ramon II ("Magoo"); Barbara Alvarez; daughter Yvette and her husband Ed Rooney; daughter Lina and her husband Mark Van Vleet. He also has 7 grandchildren; Rene, Francois, Dominic, Nicholas, Isabella, Sophia, and Mateo and one grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his father Gilberto Robles Alvarez; mother, Mary Williams Alvarez and his beautiful granddaughter, Gabriella Suzanne. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 8, 2006 at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 East Indian School Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85251, 480-945-9521. The family will receive visitors beginning at 3 p.m. The memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. A memorial and celebration of life will also be held in Douglas, Arizona on Saturday, January 27, 2007 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Douglas Golf and Social Club."
