Grace Mathews Dies Following Long Illness
Mrs. Grace W. Mathews, 48, 615 Spring St., died Sunday noon at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following an illness of about a year. She was born in Glasgow, KY but had lived in New Castle for the last 30 years.
She was a member of the Church of God, 18th and Walnut St., and was the past president of the Holland School's Parent-Teacher Association.
Surviving are the husband, Leonard; a daughter, Mary Rose of New Castle; sons: Heilman and Bennett, both of New Castle; two sisters: Mrs. Bertha Chism of Elizabethtown, KY and Mrs. Bessie Wilson of Glasgow, KY; brothers: Arthur Bennett of Glasgow, KY and Virgil Bennett of Madisonville, KY; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Herman Ast in charge. Burial will be in the South Mound Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Main and Sons Funeral Home in New Castle after 7 p.m. tonight.
