Preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C., Geneva Parker is, again, dancing with her soul mate.

Born in 1919, to Geyer B. and Jenny Graham, Geneva had her roots firmly planted in the Fern Hill community. She attended Fern Hill Grade School, Stewart Jr. High, and graduated from Lincoln High. Married in 1940, she was a devoted wife and mother to her four children. She served as President of the PTA for both Fern Hill and Baker Schools, earning her the Golden Acorn Award. She enjoyed marching in the Zora Patrol and singing with the Sweet Adelines. She had a love of the beach and collecting seashells. She especially enjoyed Fort Flagler and traveling around the Peninsula.

Two important parts of Geneva's life were family and history. She worked to keep the family stories together and to hand down her heritage. She was a great listener and would pass on pieces of wisdom as needed. She doted on her grandchildren and prized her great-grandchildren.

You could always find Geneva with a good book in hand and several to loan. She was well known for her creative poetry, which she blessed others with throughout her life. She warmed our hearts with her quick wit, right thought, and outstanding blackberry cobbler. She had a smile that touched many. She will be dearly missed!

Geneva is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Gloria J. and Gene Smith, her daughters, and son-in-laws, Jane and Bob Schermerhorn of Vancouver, WA: Bonita and James Yacobazzi of Lacey, WA; Alice and Ted Laughlin of Tacoma: her son, Kenneth G. Parker of Tacoma, 11 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Monday, March 13, 2006 at 1:00 pm in the Aspen Chapel located in the Celebration of Life Center at Mt. View. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Tacoma Rescue Mission.

The family would like to thank Dr. Janice Olson and the staff at Orchard Park Nursing Facility for their extra-special love and care.
