Maurine Jackson McLean passed away at the age of ninety-three on March 28, 2014 in Salt Lake City of CML and causes incident to age.

Maurine was born January 14, 1921, number eight of twelve children of S. Andrew and Iretta Woolley Jackson, in Salt Lake City.

She graduated from East High School, attended the University of Utah, and graduated from the LDS Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1942.

She married Gilbert John McLean on October 29, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Maurine was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many teaching and leadership positions.

She was also active in the PTA and was awarded an Honorary Life-Time Membership. She was a volunteer disaster nurse with the American Red Cross.

Along with her husband and six sons, she was involved in the Scouting Program. She was a registered scouter for forty-five years, received the Red Butte District Award of Merit and the Silver Fawn Award.

She loved life and enjoyed her brothers and sisters, her husband and their nine children, hot baths, and chocolate.

Maurine is survived by her children, Kathleen (Dennis) Judd, Marilyn, Rosemary (Duane) Swapp, Powell (Lorraine), John (Leslie), David (Stacey Jo), Douglas (Jandeen), and Steven (Diane); twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Laura Kunz and Esther (Earl) Wallace. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gilbert; son, Mark (Claire); and four grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Garner Funeral Home, 1001 11th Avenue, Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing prior from 10:00-10:40 a.m., on Friday, April 11, 2014 in the Liberty Ward Chapel, 445 East Harvard Avenue, Salt Lake City.
Interment at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
