Helen and Jim moved their family to San Jose, California in 1960 and continued raising them there. After the girls were grown, she and Jim moved to the high desert community of Helendale, California, and then later to Palm Desert, California. She was a member of the Shadow Mountain Golf Club in Palm Desert.
Helen enjoyed oil painting and golfing, and her faithful canine companion, Harley.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl A. Serr, (husband Steven M. Serr) of Ventura, California and Cynthia J. Stanford, (husband Mark Johnson) of Los Gatos, California; Four grandchildren, Aaron M. Serr, (wife Heather A. Serr) Ryan M. Serr, Nicolaus A. Serr, and Wendy L. Serr; Four great-grandchildren, Kaya J. Serr, Logan M. Serr, Emily M. Serr, and Colton J. Serr; and a brother, Ralph G. "Gordie" Woessner. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Doris V. Ranzenberger, brother, Clifford A. "Kip" Woessner, and infant son, Michael James Stanford.
Helen was cremated, per her wishes, and inurnment took place Friday, September 5, 2014, at the Utah Veteran's Memorial Park, in Bluffdale, Utah.
