Joseph Sandusky Polsgrove, 65, of Lexington, died as a result of the crash of his private aircraft 5 miles from Grafton, IL. in rural Quarry Township. He was the son of the late David and Ruth Sandusky Beall and James H. Polsgrove, Jr. He was a graduate of Transylvania University and was a veteran of the U. S. Air force having served as pilot and navigator in the NORAD defense system and had also served in the Air Force Reserve.
He had worked as chief engineer for WLEX-TV in the 1950s and 60s and was a development engineer for IBM in Lexington, retiring in 1992. He was also active in the Experimental Aircraft Association and Young Eagles program.

Survivors include: his wife, Janet Polsgrove, Lexington; one son, Joseph S. Polsgrove II; and a granddaughter, Haley M. Polsgrove, both of NC.

Newspaper articles indicate that he was buried in the Ward Family Cemetery at Boone's Camp in Johnson Co KY on 23 Aug 2003. The Veterans Administration shows his death as 30 July 2003 which is the date his body was found at the plane crash site.
