Jacob was the son of Abraham and Elizabeth (Schliker) Arnold. On March 8, 1855 he was married to Ellen Vandermark. They were the parents of thirteen children: Elijah Joe, Abraham Lincoln "Linc", Ida Jane, Sarah Ann "Lid", John Palmer, Mary Susan, Laura Frances, Clara, Hattie Mae "Hat", Dolly, Jacob, and two that died in infancy.
Jacob served in the Civil War with Company I, 130th Illinois Infantry and and was later transferred to Company I, 77th Regiment Illinois Volunteers.

Gravesite Details

Same stone with Ellen, Ida Jane, and Mary. There are also two small illegible stones which may be infant children.
