Mr. James “Jim” Vance Allen, Jr., 80 died Friday, September 12, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 15, 2014 at Bessemer United Methodist Church with Rev. John Jolly and Rev. C.M Worthy officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.

Mr. Allen was born on May 24, 1934 in Guilford County, son of the late Anne Marie Miller Allen and James Vance Allen, Sr. A 1953 graduate of Bessemer High School, he was a member of Bessemer United Methodist Church and co owner of Allen Boat Company. He was an avid Duke Blue Devil Fan and Iron Duke Member. He also loved jitterbugging to Elvis and enjoyed flying planes.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his son, James Vance Allen, III.

Survivors include his former wife and faithful companion, one daughter, two grandchildren, one great grandson, one daughter in law and numerous cousins.
