Through my investigation, I believe that David Alexander Wortman is interred here.

He had contracted smallpox during the Civil War and ultimately perished from it. Any and all personal effects were burned per the War Department, as to try to prevent the contagion.
Soldiers with smallpox were "housed" and cared for as much as possible at the Smallpox Hospital in St. Louis. When they eventually died, they were taken to a place called "Arsenal Island" for burial. It is located in the middle of the Mississippi River, with the states of Iowa on one side and Illinois on the other. (It is now the Rock Island Arsenal Museum, Confederate Cemetery and the Rock Island National Cemetery.)

Graves were marked by wooden crosses. A flood came through the area and with the devastating waters, it took the crosses and many of the bodies. The remains that were left were reinterred at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. More than likely, his gravesite wasn't marked, and I can't find David's name in the grave locator on www.cem.va.gov.
However, I am also a member of Ancestry.com, and if you look at a photograph I posted, that is the proof (at least on paper) I have to claim David is buried here.

One letter in the last name listed on the government form is different, they spelled it "Wertman" instead of "Wortman", but also being a genealogist, one finds that records and spellings aren't always exact.
