James was the son of James D and Julia A Wingate Richardson. He was the spouse of Anna Elizabeth McMahon Richardson, who survives him.
He was employed as the superintendent of the Duval county prison farm for the last five years before he died at his residence on McDuff avenue Saturday night following a lengthy illness.
Funeral conducted from the First Presbyterian church (of which he was a member) at 3pm Tuesday, Rev Albert C Holt, pastor, officiatin
He was one of the best known employees of Duval county, having first entered the service in 1918. In 1920 he was made property clerk and was in charge of all county purchases He was named superintendent of road and bridges and convicts on May 1, 1923.
He was also a member of Solomon Lodge, #2 F&AM and was a Scottish Rite 32nd degree mason. He was also a member of Morocco Temple, Ancient Arabic Order, Nobles of the Mystic shrine, order of the Eastern Star and Woodmen of the World.
He is also survived by his mother Mrs AB Geiger, two brothers: OC and GD Richardson; four sisters: Mrs FR Terrell, Mrs AS Broward, Mrs TO Peacock, and Miss Myrtle Geiger, all of Jacksonville.
Interment in the family plot of West Evergreen.
