Keith D. Ness, 77, of Bismarck, ND, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2014 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Home, with family at his side. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, September 19, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, with Rev. Sam Saylor officiating. Burial will follow at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan. The family is also planning a gathering for friends and family, following the burial, at Ron Ness' house 6206 Flickertail Dr. Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Thursday, September 18, at Parkway Funeral Service, and will continue one hour prior to the service. Keith was born on December 11, 1936, in Reeder, ND, to Oscar and Jennie Ness. He was the 'leader of the pack' and the oldest of 9 siblings. Keith was married to Lois Pruitt for 32 years and they were blessed with 3 sons, Randy, Rusty and Ronnie. He served honorably in the Air force until 1976, attaining the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. After his military retirement, he was employed by NASA at Edwards Airforce Base in California as an experimental fabricator for 20+ years retiring in 1999. Keith and his family enjoyed many adventures together over the years. They took several camping, fishing and hunting trips, as well as trips between CA, KS and ND to visit extended family. He loved to spend time with his family and loved being a grandpa to his 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson. He is survived by his sons, Randy (Linda), and Ronnie (June); his siblings, Sidney, Mike (Sandy), Barry (Joyce), Wendy (Russ), Danny (Sheila), Tammy (Mike), Lanny, and Kerry (Lorene); his grandchildren, Missy, Shelly, Jeremy, Samantha, Jessica, and Ashley; great- grandson, Michael; several nieces and nephews; and many other extended family members and friends. Keith was preceded in death by his son Rusty; parents, Oscar and Jennie; and sister, Jeanine. Keith was an amazing role model as a Brother, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle and a friend. His guidance and love will live on forever, leaving us all with so many with wonderful memories to hang on to. He will be deeply missed.
