Robert H. 'Bob' Adams Sr., 86 WINDHAM -- Robert H. 'Bob' Adams Sr., 86, of River Road, passed away peacefully on Jan. 24, 2009, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

Born in Portland on Feb. 1, 1922, Robert was one of 10 children born to Frederick and Minnie (Batchelder) Adams. He was raised and educated in Portland. In 1942, soon after the onset of WWII, Bob joined the U.S. Army. He served in the European; African and Middle Eastern theater's of operation and was proud to have served as a Military Policeman and to have been awarded the WWII Victory Medal at the end of the war. After his discharge in 1946, Bob went to work for the former S.D. Warren Company in Westbrook. He was employed there for 33 years, retiring in 1980. In 1948, Bob married Rose E. Davis, together they had three children. In 1958, he married Marjorie Boothby Nano and he became the father to her two daughters. Bob enjoyed socializing with family and friends at Cole Farms Restaurant in Gray and at the Mill Side Tavern in Westbrook. He was a person who could make friends with anyone anywhere. He was a caring compassionate person who really cared for his family and seemed to never become upset with anybody. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished time spent with his family and friends.

His father predeceased him in 1942 and his mother passed away in 2000 at the age of 108. He was also predeceased by his wife Rose, his wife, Marge; sisters, Yolanda Weed, Jessie Norberg, Gladys Norberg and Daisy Ashley Collard as well as brothers, Fred Arnold Adams, Albert Adams, Walter Adams, Eugene Adams and Ralph Adams.

Survivors include one brother, Herbert Adams and his wife Louise; two daughters, Jean Albert and her husband Norman and Karen Ottum and her husband John, one son, Robert Adams Jr., and his wife Camilla, step-son James Mulkern and step-daughter, Jacqueline Megquier; three grandchildren, Michelle Reed, Jennifer Rogers and Angelina Adams; three great-grandchildren, Megan Reed, Matthew Reed and Jaden Lilley and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his two step-daughters, Kathy Potter and Julia Potter Whitney as well as their children and grandchildren.

A visiting hour will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, from 1 until 2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Rd., Windham. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob's memory to: The Windham Rescue Association P.O. Box 330 Windham, Maine 04062
