Shawn Jeffrey Airey, 58, of Parker, Florida bravely fought and lost to a severe Aortic Aneurysm on Monday, September 15, 2014 at Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Florida.

Shawn was born in Shiloh Valley, Township, Ilinois to the first CMSAF Paul W. Airey and Shirley E (Babbitt) Airey September 4, 1956.

He attended local elementary and junior high schools in Springfield, Florida and then went on to attend and graduate from Haney Vocational and Technical School. Shawn excelled for over thirty years as a plumber and pipefitter locally and throughout the United States helping to build everything from charcoal plants to federal prisons. Shawn was known for his commitment to professional excellence and workmanship integrity.

Shawn was an avid hunter, fisherman, and reader of American Military History. He was a member and staunch supporter of both the National Rifle Association and Republican Party. Over the years he made many contributions to the Wounded Warrior Foundation, Air Force Memorial and numerous cancer foundations. Shawn was Episcopalian and aggressively fought in words and deeds to keep America as the strongest and greatest country on earth.

All who knew Shawn will remember his sense of humor and keen wit and know that he always "did it his way" Over the years he showed his great love for animals by adopting and befriending many different cats and dogs. Shawn was most proud of his two nephews, Paul W. Airey II, 1997 graduate of The Citadel and business owner and Sgt. Sean D. Shawn is also survived by his former wife and friend Lorraine Waddell of Lynn Haven, FL and his many fishing, hunting and "let's have a cold one" buddies. Shawn truly loved his adopted uncle and aunt Jack and Linda Andrews of Parker, FL

A private ceremony will take place by returning Shawn's ashes to the great Florida waters he loved and respected at a later date.
