Steven was born July 6, 1955, in Amery, WI to Gene and Loretta (Monson) Larsen. He graduated from Boscobel High School in 1973 receiving the W-Club award for outstanding achievement as a high school scholar and athlete.
In 1978, he graduated from the U -W of La Crosse with a degree in Physical Education and Health.
In 1988, he completed his Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Winona State University.
Steven taught from 1979-1980 at the Viroqua High School. From 1980-1981 he taught grades 4-12 physical education and served as Athletic Director at the Gillmanton School District.
In 1981, he joined the Lancaster Community School District where he served in numerous coaching positions.
He was an avid participant in bowling, basketball, golf, softball, hunting and fishing.
He married Kathleen Hazen on July 31, 1982 in Boscobel. He is survived by his wife and children, Douglas and Leslie of Lancaster; his mother, Loretta Larsen; brothers, Gregory (Cynthia) and Paul (Reyne) Larsen; sisters Pamela Austin and Catherine (Kent) McConnell; his grandmother, Violet Monson, mother and father-in-law, Patricia and Robert Hazen.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Larsen and his brother, Gene Larsen Jr.
