Imogene Glenn Coon, previously of Dunbar, passed away at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Life Care Center on Sept. 12, 2014 in Wilmington, N.C., after an extended illness.

She retired in 1989 from Kanawha County Schools after serving as an elementary school teacher for 25 years. After retirement, Mrs. Coon enjoyed living in Daytona Beach, Fla., for 20 years.

Mrs. Coon was preceded in death by her parents, Georgia Ellen DeBord Glenn and John Howard Glenn; sisters, Mary Ellen Glenn, Alice Lee Moon and Maude Selma Cooper; and her granddaughter, Lindsay Marie Townsend.

Surviving are her husband, Charles H. Coon of Raleigh, N.C.; daughters, Linda Garrett of Raleigh, N.C., and Lisa Townsend (Ron) of Wilmington, N.C.; sister, Janet Jenkins (Mitch) of Hampstead, N.C.; brother, Jim Glenn of Alexandria, Va.; grandchildren, Zachary Townsend (Kristin) of Raleigh, N.C., Nicole Hatcher-Fowler (Kenny) of Raleigh, N.C., and Meredith Hatcher Taylor (Brandon); and great-granddaughter, Addison Taylor of Wake Forest, N.C. Additionally, Mrs. Coon is survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews who live in West Virginia, North Carolina and Washington.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
