Robert Raymond Brandt, 87, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Sunday, September 14, 2014, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck with Pastor Mike Campbell officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the church. Inurnment will be held at the Reinbeck Cemetery following the memorial service.

Robert Raymond was born October 29, 1926, in Reinbeck, Iowa, the son of Theodore and Marie (Thiessen) Brandt. Bob was raised in Reinbeck, attended Reinbeck schools, and graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1944. After graduating from high school, Bob was drafted and served his country in the United States Navy.

On November 25, 1948, Bob was united in marriage to Donna Jean Miller at the First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck. He worked many different jobs but retired driving gas truck for the local elevators.

Bob was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck where he served as a deacon. He was a lifetime member of Reinbeck American Legion Action Post #242. Bob enjoyed crossword puzzles, darts, pool, fishing, dancing and making wooden model airplanes. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Robert is survived his wife, Donna Brandt of Reinbeck; sons, Robert L. (Rosalyn) Brandt of Ames and Jack (Michelle) Brandt of Reinbeck; grandchildren, Erika(Tony) Osmundson, Jason (Emily) Brandt, Ryan (Kelsey) Brandt, Joe Hansen, Rachel (Justin) McKinney and Dustin Dawson; 10 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, James(Colleen) Miller; sister-in-law, Joyce Miller and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Peggy Brandt; brothers, Lester Brandt, Allan Brandt, Donald Brandt; sisters, Florence Davis, LaVerna Murphy and Irma Johnsen.
