: I suggest that the death date for Joseph Martin is incorrect. My reason for this is that (a) this man served in Company G, 22nd Kentucky (according to the Lawrence County Historical Society's records); (b) such a man was married to Nancy Palmer Martin; (c) Nancy's brothers and nephews served in the same company (Company G) of the 22nd as this man; and (d) the 1870 federal census shows Joseph and Nancy living in Elizabeth Township, Lawrence County (so he cannot have died in 1869).

The specificity of April suggests a source for that date. I've not been able to establish a proper date after 1870, and his wife is buried in Wellston, Jackson County, not next to him.
