Ruth enjoyed cooking and working in the garden. She also liked to can her own jellies and pickles. Her favorite time of the year was spring--The woods with dogwood trees and red buds were a favorite of hers, along with hunting mushrooms (AKA: Dryland fish).
Her hobbies included quilt making. She made over 25 quilts, many sewn by hand and with her own pattern. One of these quilts will soon be displayed at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. It will be placed on the fifth floor, where many cancer patients are being treated. This quilt will serve as an everlasting memorial to her.
She was a daughter of the late William Dow Thompson and Bedie Ann Ford Thompson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Marrs and William Raymond Thompson; and a sister, Runell Thompson.
Her grandparents included: Ezekiel and Kezziah (Hammer) Thompson & Benjamin Price and Belle (Jobe) Ford.
She lived in Elizabethtown for over 25 years and died at 6:08 p.m. March 8, 2006, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. The service was held at Strode Funeral Home with burial in Jane Yokley Cemetery.
Her family includes her husband, Denver Oller; two sons, Joey Dale Oller and Danny Ray Oller, both of Hodgenville; two brothers, James Robert Thompson of Louisville and Truman Ray Thompson of Tompkinsville; and four sisters, Ruby Belle Jones, Ersie Ellen Lemaster and Francis Adalene Walden, all of Louisville, and Wanda Lou Ford of Taylorsville, Ind.
She also had many friends who cherished her as a loving friend.
