John was the s/o the late John R and Annie Lou Slaughter, and was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Jo Randolph Slaughter. John graduated from Ramsey High School in Birmingham, AL. He graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1952 with a degree in mechanical engineering, and was a veteran of the U S Navy. He was employed by Union Carbide, South Charleston, WV, and worked in Sistersville and Institute, WV, Marietta, OH, Sweden and England. He retired in 1993.
